WHO WE ARE
More than four decades caring for life and territory
The story of the Darién Foundation and the Sasardí Nature Reserve begins in 1985, when a small group of dreamers decided to sow hope in a land that needed to be cared for.

Terrestrial Conservation
We are strengthening environmental governance and forest conservation in Darién and eastern Antioquia, integrating ecological restoration, biodiversity monitoring, and long-term community work.

Marine Conservation
Since 1993, we have promoted the protection of sea turtles in Acandí–Playona through monitoring, education and community work, consolidating a local conservation model that is now led by the communities themselves.

Sea Turtle
Conservation
We protect the populations of Dermochelys coriacea and Eretmochelys imbricata in Acandí through monitoring, nest protection and community work, generating ecological impact and long-term local strengthening.
Sasardí Integral Reserve and Eco-village
A sustainable lifestyle model in the Darién region of Chocó where community and nature coexist, integrating rural education, sustainable production practices, and conservation of the territory.
Conservation from civil society
Long-term process focused on strengthening community-led conservation, promoting entities such as civil society reserves, OMECs, and territorial networks.

project goal
This project aims to strengthen conservation processes in eastern Antioquia through the articulation between communities, territory, biodiversity and the conservation of birds as a strategic axis.
ACTIONS
We support landowners, local organizations, and rural communities in sustainable management, promoting the creation of private reserves, strengthening conservation networks and local governance, and using bird monitoring as a tool for decision-making and ecological planning.
We promote sustainable production alternatives that contribute to generating income, strengthening local capacities, and reducing pressure on ecosystems in a sustainable, long-term way.
